Entwistle Sidewalk Connection Project

Location: E Entwistle Street (becomes NE 45th Street as the road continues East)

Approximate Cost: $550,000

Phase: Engineering & Design

Project Description: The proposed street improvement project is an arterial that runs east to west and will connect downtown Carnation to the residential neighborhoods in the Eastern half of the city.

Approximately 880 linear feet of 6-foot-wide sidewalks, curbs, gutters, stormwater collection, and infiltration facilities will be installed on the south side of E Entwistle/NE 45th Street between the Swiftwater and Brooktree neighborhoods. This project includes the installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps and intermittent trees between the curb and sidewalk.

Low-impact development (LID) features will be incorporated where it is technically feasible in order to reduce runoff and provide water quality treatment. The improvements will not only create a safer roadway but also complete a missing link in the non-motorized transportation network within the City. The project also assures adequate accommodation of the diverse transportation needs for pedestrians, bicycles, disabled populations, and those transporting small children.

2025 Plan of Action: This project will be in the design phase throughout Quarter 2 (April – June). Pending weather and permitting timelines, construction will begin in 2025.
